Alerting You First - Covering You Best.
Sunshine returned for the entire area today, and so too did much warmer temperatures. Despite the passage of a weak cold front tomorrow night, that warm air is going to stick around through the holiday weekend. There remains a possibility for a few scattered showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening, but many locales will not see a drop. Rain chances are over by Saturday morning as the front sweeps east of us. Fair skies should dominate the entire Labor Day weekend, with afternoon temperatures topping out near 90 (give or take a degree) through Monday. In the tropics, it is a VERY busy scene right now, with newly formed Hanna in the Atlantic and Gustav in the Carribean. Gustav is on track to move into the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend and could pose a major threat to the central U.S. Gulf coast sometime late Monday into Tuesday. For more on these two systems, click on our "tropical weather" link below the forecast.
