One of Bowling Green High School's major Division I prospects has made a decision on his college, according to coach Kevin Wallace.
Safety/linebacker Jared Carpenter was offered by Northwestern earlier this week and today verbally committed to the Big Ten program.
"It's perfect for him," Wallace said. "He's a young man that is incredibly intelligent, mature and athletic. I don't think it took him too long to research all the positive about going to a school like that and playing in the Big Ten."
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Carpenter also had an offer from Western Kentucky and was being actively recruited by Stanford and Ohio University.
Carpenter is a 4.0 student and Wallace said he expects Northwestern to start him off at a strong safety but there's a chance he could move to linebacker with some added weight.
