In 2007, the Scotties started the season with an overtime win against Allen County Scottsville in the TJ Sampson Bowl, then preceded to reel off three straight wins. The Scotties finished the season 8-3 losing to Metcalfe County in the first round of the Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl.

There are several high school football teams in the state that will field rosters of 43 players or less. In contrast, Glasgow High School will have 70 on their roster with 48 players consisting of freshman and sophomores.

With 12 seniors, 10 juniors Glasgow has experience on both sides of the ball. Coach Billy Lindsey is optimistic with the group of players that he has returning. "We lost some good players, but we are really excited about our numbers."

Lindsey is starting his 6th season with the Scotties and 4th season as Head Coach. Lindsey's tenure is 32 years in the coaching arena. " I don't look that old, just crazy when you do it that long" laughed Lindsey. "Its not so much how good we are, but how good everybody else is. I expect every team that we play are capable of beating us. You just can't show up and expect to win" said Lindsey.

Lindsey feels one of the big changes this year was the off season work that the players put in the weight room. This years Scotties will be bigger and stronger then years prior. "We have got to take advantage of this hard work and do some damage in the playoffs" said Lindsey.

Senior running back and linebacker Blake Perkins is one of the leaders the Scotties will rely on this season. "We have an opportunity to be really, really good. We have improved from last year, everyone has worked hard. I think when we through on the pads we are going to learn a lot, but for right now it is an opportunity for us to take it" said Perkins.

Glasgow ranked in the top 15 in 2A for scoring teams putting up an average of 28.0 points per game. Senior quarterback Tyler Lindsey played a big part in that and again will lead the Scotties offensively this season.

Last year Lindsey was ranked in the top 20 2A passing leaders averaging 67.3 yards per game and throw for 8 Touchdowns. "We have a really good team this year and I want to make a run for the state championships. We have strong running backs and good receivers this year. I think Blake Perkins is one of the toughest runners in 2A. Our receivers Stacey Sullivan, and John both have great hands so I think our passing game will be better then ever" said Tyler.

With the departure of long time offensive coordinator Coach Eubanks, the offense now is on the shoulders of Head coach Lindsey. "I never had to worry about it much, I just let him do whatever he wanted to do because he knew what he wanted to do. This year we will be running the stuff that I am more familiar with, but it will be some of the same stuff just the terminology will be different. I am an old dog that needs to learn new tricks and that's hard to do. Eubanks always had all these numbers, 30, 40, 60, and I am just north, south east and west kind of guy not to many directions" laughed Lindsey.

The offensive line will be a strong area for the Scotties returning both tackles and moving in some bigger size at the guard and center positions. For the Scotties in 2008 it about making the plays. "We don't care who carries the ball as long as we get yards. We don't care who scores the touchdowns as long as we score the touchdown. We don't care who makes the tackle as long as we make the tackle. I tell my guys it takes a lot of individuals to make up a good football team, but you cannot have a good football team with a bunch of individuals. Everyone is important and valuable and they just need to understand their roles" said Coach Lindsey.
