2001 was the last time the Bowling Green Purples hoisted the Region 4 championship trophy. Six years later the Purples regain championship form by defeating Franklin-Simpson 11-1 in the 4th Region finals. The Purple's bats were red hot out scoring their region opponents 29-9 in three games. Now the Purples advance to the Semi-State to face Region 1 champions Heath in a best of 3 series at Brooks Stadium in Paducah.

Heath has an overall record of 25-10 verses the 21-13 Purples. The first game is set for Wednesday June 6th, followed by the second game on Thursday and if needed the tiebreaker on Friday. The Winning team advances to the round 1 of the State Finals at Applebee's Park in Lexington on Thursday June 14.
