August 18, 2007 -- The Bowling Green High School boys golf team finished in a tie for second place at the Kentucky Invitational (K.I.T.) at the Nevel Meads Golf Course. The tournament was hosted by St. Xavier High School and boasts one of the toughest fields during the high school season. Twenty six teams from around the state competed.
Bowling Green posted a 306 team total which tied them for first place with St. Mary's of Paducah, St. Xavier and Paul Dunbar of Lexington. A four team playoff saw St. Xavier and Paul Dunbar eliminated on the first hole of sudden death. St. Mary's and Bowling Green advanced to the second hole of playoff resulting in a win for St. Mary's.
Seth Blann led the way for the Purples shooting a 5 under par 67. This was also good enough for medalist honors in the tournament. Will Beard posted a 78 for the Purples, followed by Brian Jaska's 79, Kyle Fleenor's 82 and Robert Kirby's 84.
The Purples will be back in action August 25th at the Prestonsburg Invitational in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
