The Hilltoppers are looking to win their fifth in a row.
Some people are labeling this game as 'the biggest in WKU history.'
I don't buy that. Maybe the biggest since their move to D-1, not the biggest in their history. It's a conference matchup against an un-ranked opponent who is 5-3. What about that screams 'Biggest game in school history!!"
Regardless of that, it is an important game. FIU is the defending champions. WKU is riding a four game winning streak and other than Arkansas State, they are the hottest team in conference play right now.
So who do I think wins? Let's look at some stats.
Western does one thing very well and that is run the ball. They are averaging 159 yards a game and FIU's defense is giving up 120.
FIU passes the ball well averaging 250 yards and WKU's defense is giving up about that exact number.
I think FIU will get at least 250 yards and pass the ball like they can.
The key will be how well WKU can run the ball and how many long scoring drives they can get because if it's a shootout, I don't like WKU's chances.
My gut tells me WKU will lose this one because they are a young team and at some point that will catch up to them.
However, you can't compute momentum and WKU has the advantage there, and I can't pick against a team that has won four in a row until they prove me wrong.
WKU 24, FIU 20
Tops win 5 in a row and get above .500 for the first time in Coach Taggart's regime.
