A Little HS Football, a Little WKU, a Little of Everything

Today I am offering a potpourri of sorts!

Let's talk about a little about everything today, shall we?

First off, I think I've said it on twitter and facebook, but man, this weather today is perfect for football. The sky is as blue as can be, and the temperature is perfect. It makes shooting football that much more enjoyable. I always have fun going to the games, but rain can make it a little frustrating.

Know what else is frustrating? Parking. I'm going to be selfish and say I think the high schools should block off a few spots up close for the media attending. It is a real pain going to the first game and trying to find somewhere to park. Sometimes, you just have to make your own parking spot. Illegal? Maybe. Justified? Absolutely. But I won't ever be that guy and park in a handicapped spot.

Keeping the high school football theme going, we have been treated to a great first four weeks of football. Teams like Bowling Green, Central, Butler and Edmonson County are really playing well.

Others like Greenwood and ACS have struggled to get things going but both have their reasons.

Will we see a South Warren win this year? You got to think at some point they will, and when they do, good for them.

Speaking of first wins, will WKU get it's first win this weekend? I have to think they will against Indiana State. They have to. If they lose, the sky may be falling, but I don't see that happening. Coach Taggart and company now need to regain the buzz the team had going into the Navy game. I think a lot of it was lost after the 40-14 defeat.

One big thing I think fans need to have is..... brace for it.... patience.

Believe me I know as fans that is the last thing you want to have, but it's important. WKU has the top recruiting classes in the Sun Belt the last two seasons, so think about it. Both classes are underclassmen. Now if in two years they are still not playing so well, maybe you wonder.

It takes time to rebuild a program. As a UK graduate I know. My freshman year the football team won two games, and people were handing out 'Ditch Mitch and Rich' bumper stickers. The next year they beat Clemson in the Music City Bowl. Then they beat U of L and then ranked #1 LSU. Now fans love Coach Brooks and hated to see him retire.

Can coach Taggart get there? I think so, but only time will tell. Until then Hilltopper fans, be patient and know the program appears to be headed in the right direction.

In the NFL, my Bengals are 1-0. All is wonderful for the moment.

Wondering away from the world of sports for just a moment.....

I have been plugging the show Breaking Bad on AMC for a while. This season is phenomenal. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

In other TV news, another guilty pleasure of mine 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' started last night. The last few seasons weren't near;y as good as the first few, but last night started strong. It's a show that is easy to laugh at. If you have never watched it, beware, it can be pretty crass.

That's all I've got for you today, tomorrow I head back to my second home (Cincinnati will always be home) Lexington. I love Lexington. Maybe it's because I spent the best four and a half years of my life there having fun with friends, and watching four years of some pretty average UK basketball. I am going to cover the UK/UL game for us, and no I won't be cheering on the sideline. On the inside however, that is a different story.

Have a great weekend, be good.
