My Viewpoint 2/2

Sports. Let's go.

Happy Groundhogs day. It's kind of dumb in my opinion. This is really Groundhog Day

You know what impresses me in the world of sports?

Although that is impressive. But I'm more impressed by kids like Tyler Phelps. Tyler is a senior at Warren East and recently bowled a perfect game. Perfect. The mental toughness it takes to do that is very impressive. It's not like basketball where you can shoot 60% and have a great night. So kudos to Tyler.
Basketball season is winding down and one team I wouldn't want to play right now is Warren Central. They are on absolute fire. They scored 95 on Christian County. 95 points in a high school game is flat out getting it done! The 14th district is still wide open. A few weeks ago I wouldn't have thought Central could make it to the region tournament, now I'm re-thinking that. At the same time I could see Greenwood making a strong play for the region tournament or even Warren East. I think Bowling Green will take one of the other spots, it will just be question of who joins them.
Right now in the 13th district I like Logan County and Russellville to make the region tournament. In the 15th I like Glasgow and Barren and in the 16th I could see Clinton County and Russell County making it.
On the girls side of things I wasn't surprised to see Monroe County lose a few games. It's tough beating everyone by double digits every night. It's a long season. Players get tired and have off nights. I still see them as being the favorites to win the region. I think the Lady Scotties of Glasgow could give them a run for their money though.
That's the great thing about basketball though, all it takes is one bad night in the district tournament to shatter people's perceptions of what they thought would happen.
That's all for me today. Be good.
