The Start of a Beautiful Friendship

My first blog post, I hope you become best friends.

Hello everyone! Your friendly weekend sports anchor here! This is my new blog. I am going to use it to talk abut sports (obviously), I will add things here that maybe I couldn't squeeze into the sportscast, but I am also going to talk a lot about some national sports topics, pose questions, talk about movies, books, TV.... everything! I hope this blog turns into something yo look forward to reading, maybe on your own time, or maybe even at work when it's 3:30 and you are looking for a way to take a thirty minute break so all the sudden you look up and it's 4 and only one more hour of work to go! Seriously, my goal is for this blog to morph into something people love reading.

Let's set a ground rule before we begin. I love the internet, you love the internet, everyone loves the internet. I welcome all comments on my blog, in fact I encourage them. I hope it leads to some great discussions amongst my readers. Here's the thing though, just because the internet can provide you anonymity, doesn't give you the right to be rude or mean. I really don't want to see any name calling, or any inappropriate comments. So with that.... LET'S BEGIN!

I'll keep it kind of short for the first post.

I've been going to a lot of WKU practices, and even though it is my first year covering the team, there seems to be a different feel. One thing I have heard a lot around practice from various people is "they finally LOOK like a D-1 team." They sure do have some big boys, and big freshman on the team. Will that automatically translate into seven or eight wins? That remains to be seen, but it looks as if Coach Taggart and company have the team headed in the right direction.

High school football starts Friday and I couldn't be more excited! This will be my third year covering high school football in Kentucky. Three years ago I shot games for WLEX-18 in Lexington while I was still in school at UK. Last year I helped us get games as a shooter. I loved it and after a day of reporting and then shooting football... I was pretty beat. This year I will still be shooting but also have a bigger role as I will be getting post game sound and helping Jeff get Football Friday Night ready to go for all of you folks.

OK, some quick random things.

If you are an avid fan of music, as I am (and I like to think I have great taste in music) and you somehow haven't checked this band out, do so. www.youtube.com/watch

On the TV front, all I have to say is if you aren't watching AMC's Breaking Bad, you should be. Fantastic TV.

I have to go run some errands, groceries, clean the apartment, fun stuff to do on your day off.

Be good!
