Downstream (the falls are just to the left of this shot) the water is just as still as can be with massive rock formations dotting the riverside.

Before we left, we stopped for a bite at the duPont Lodge and these guys wondered up next to our window. They were hungry, too but decided to eat some bird seed that had fallen to the ground from a feeder. We just got back from Cumberland Falls on Sunday. It was kind of cloudy so we didnt see any rainbows, but still was very pretty. Spent quite a bit of time there as a stduent at Cumberland College in Williamsburg back in the late 70's. Some very nice trails that make for a great day trip. Be certain to stay for the moonbow.
