Greetings from the DNC in Denver, Colorado!
There is a tremendous amount of excitement surrounding this event.

Anticipated attendance and demand for event tickets are up significantly from recent conventions, something which is evidenced by the fact that Kentucky’s state delegation is 25% larger than it was just four years ago.

There are a number of factors that account for this:  excitement over Barack Obama’s historic candidacy, his decision to give his acceptance speech at Invesco Field, which has a capacity of roughly 70,000 as opposed to the smaller convention hall, a heightened level of interest due Senator Obama’s decision to wait until later in the process to announce his choice of vice-presidential running mate than recent Presidential nominees, and a sense of intrigue over what role the Clinton’s will play in the convention and whether they will attempt to “steal the show” from the presumptive Democratic nominee.

These factors should combine to make for an extremely exciting event that will certainly get a significant amount of media coverage.  It is now up to Senator Obama, and the Democratic Party as a whole, to capitalize on this opportunity and attempt to generate the momentum that might be enough to carry him to the White House.

Check back for updates from Denver as the week progresses.

I am a disabled Veteran of the U.S. Army. I served 8 years and had to get out due to a back injury I served 3 years in Germany on the Soviet Border from 79 to 82 the cold war was still a very real and sometimes dangerous problem. Soldiers served with out cedit as many of the challenges we facedd would never be report to the public and some are still classified. I have been in the VA health care system for over 20 years. I hope that Barack is indeed going to live up to his word as a time for change and better health care for everyone. I was a boy when JFK was elected and killed. His was a great promise as was Robert. It has been a very long time since I have become excited about an election, I have never failed to vote for the office of president. We have been priviledged with some of the best speakers I have ever heard, Hillary will some day be where Barack is today. I hope that if the Democrats win that they keep true to the pledges they gave us and the hope I have in them.
