Shane, We watch you every night on the 10pm news (and we sure missed you last week) and have a question. We've lived here for 11+ years and cannot remember a year with such consistently rotten weather. It has been wet, below normal temps and just plain depressing. We were wondering just how this years statistics compare, historically, to years past as far as extremes go.If you wish to answer on the air please do so on the 10pm news. Thanks,Bob & DorisGlasgow, KY Bob & Doris, those observations you mentioned are so true, and yes, the numerous days with overcast skies have made for "gloom, despair, and agony" on us (as they used to croon on Hee Haw back when). As far as stats, I can tell you that Bowling Green is on track for its 6th wettest year all-time! Currently, our yearly precip total stands at 53.34", which is 11.67" above normal. With two months left before 2009 ends, it's possible we could move up in that already dubious ranking! In case you were wondering, Bowling Green's wettest year was 1979, when 76.56" fell. It's interesting to note that in '79, South-Central KY caught the remnants of two Gulf of Mexico hurricanes (Bob in July and Frederic in September) while this year tropical systems have been a non-factor in our local weather.
