Happy Friday everyone! Just two weeks left in the regular season. Several district titles will be decided tonight while other teams battle for their playoff lives. Should be a fun night. Here we go...
Monroe County (5-3) at Edmonson County (8-0) - The game of the week is in Brownsville. The Falcons and Wildcats enter Friday night 3-0 in Class 3A, District 2 and the winner takes home the district title and at least two home playoff games. Monroe County has come on strong after a 2-3 start, winning three straight. Edmonson County has remained consistently strong all season and is one of just three teams in Class 3A without a loss. This one could go either way. I will give the edge to the Wildcats because they are at home. Should be a fun game.
Winner - Edmonson County
Adair County (4-4) at South Warren (2-6) - The stakes are high in this one: win and you're in. Adair County must win to force a three-way tie for the No. 3 seed in Class 3A, District 2. The Indians would make the postseason via the tiebreaker. On the other hand, a Spartans' victory would knock Adair County out and lock up the No. 3 seed for South Warren. The Spartans continue to improve each week and I like them against the Indians tonight.
Winner - South Warren
Bowling Green (8-0) at Greenwood (4-4) - The Gators have won three out of four and are playing much better than they did to open the season. However, they should be over-matched tonight against the Purples. Bowling Green looked very strong last week in beating Warren Central and I do not see the Purples slowing up, especially with a district title up for grabs.
Winner - Bowling Green
Logan County (3-5) at Warren Central (7-1) - This is a tough spot for Logan County. The Cougars were eliminated from playoff contention last week when they lost in overtime to Barren County. They can salvage their season next week against crosstown rival Russellville. However, Logan County faces an angry Warren Central squad and the Dragons need a win to secure the No. 2 seed and a home playoff game in Class 5A, District 2.
Winner - Warren Central
Allen County-Scottsville (3-5) at Franklin-Simpson (7-1) - The Wildcats remain one of the hottest teams in Class 4A, reeling off six straight wins. A victory tonight over the Patriots would clinch the District 2 title and two home games in the playoffs. The Patriots could still earn the No. 2 seed with a victory and a Warren East loss.
Winner - Franklin-Simpson
Metcalfe County (1-7) at Glasgow (8-0) - Glasgow head coach Rick Wood told the Glasgow Daily Times this week quarterback Parker Cash will probably not play tonight after getting injured against Green County last Friday. Moving forward, his absence could be huge. The Scotties should be able to beat the Hornets without his services.
Winner - Glasgow
Warren East at Breckinridge County - Warren East
Russellville at Mayfield - Mayfield
Grayson County at John Hardin - John Hardin
