Around 5:45 p.m. February 13, an unidentified subject or subjects threw copper wire into the electrical lines at the railroad tracks behind the old Walmart on North Main Street in Franklin.
This caused serious damage, and witnesses in the area described seeing a "lights show," when the transformer shorted out.
The incident resulted in a power outage across the city of Franklin and most of Simpson County. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $3,000.
Two white males were seen leaving the area, traveling toward Papa John's on North Main Street shortly after the crime occurred.
