Western Kentucky University is hoping to increase enrollment and degree productivity by expanding in Owensboro.
WKU currently shares the Owensboro Regional Campus with Owensboro Community Technical College.
WKU President Gary Ransdell says the university is planning to build a 30,000 square-foot building to house undergraduate and graduate programs.
The new building is planned to be built on 29 acres next to the community college, which the Daviess County Fiscal Court bought.
Officials are expected to begin accepting construction bids in March.
