WKU Inducts Newest Members to Hall of Distinguished Alumni

A longtime student media adviser, a leader in American higher education, and a top professional golfer are the newest members of Western's Hall of Distinguished Alumni!

Those inducted include Bob Adams, who joined the staff of the College Heights Herald as a student in 1962 and hasn't left Bowling Green since.

Adams has mentored hundreds of students as a journalism professor and advisor to the student newspaper.

More than 20 of them have been part of Pulitzer Prize winning teams.

Also inducted, Dr. Thomas C. Meredith, WKU's eighth president who has served in higher education leadership roles in four states-- Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.

The Owensboro native is currently a commissioner of higher education in Mississippi.

Golfer Kenny Perry rounds out the three inductees.

The 1982 WKU alumnus is a nine-time winner on the PGA Tour.

The Franklin resident ranks tenth on the PGA Tour's all-time money list, with more than $20-million in winnings.

The 16th class of noted alumni were inducted during a Homecoming week luncheon at the Sloan Convention Center.
