Warren County Schools Receives Award for After-School Program

Warren County is recognized for its work with Limited English Proficient students.

The Warren County Public Schools' Language and Literacy Center received the award of excellence for having the best after-school program for LEP students in Kentucky.

Warren County had 215 LEP children last year.

85-percent of them increased their math scores, while 79-percent improved their reading scores.

"The teaching staff that works with the students in the program is really excellent and very committed to the kids and our students really want to be there and want to learn," explained Molly Wilson, director of the ESL program.

Schools eligible for the award were funded by 21st Century grant funds.
