PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) -- A plan for a western Kentucky school system to merge its three high schools into one is on the state school board agenda this week.

The Paducah Sun reports the Kentucky Department of Education is recommending McCracken County's plan be approved.

Several county officials will be in Frankfort for the board meeting on Wednesday and Thursday to answer school board questions.

County School Superintendent Tim Heller will address the board on the plan to consolidate grades 10-12 in a new school and reconfiguring lower grades into existing buildings.
