FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky has a new higher education chief.
The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education ended its extended search Tuesday for a new president, picking Robert L. King -- a former New York education official. The 61-year-old King was chancellor of the State University of New York and is currently president and CEO of the Arizona Community Foundation.
King signed a three year contract. He replaces former Council on Postsecondary President Tom Layzell, who retired in September 2007.
The job pays $360,000 per year, $40,000 for housing and a state vehicle.
