SASSAFRAS, Ky. (AP) -- Authorities say an eastern Kentucky school bus driver and four children suffered minor injuries Tuesday after the bus ran off a road and went over an embankment in Knott County.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Tony Watts says the road was wet from overnight rain, but says the wreck wasn't weather-related.
Watts says five elementary children were on board when the bus dropped off the edge of a narrow road and went over a four-foot embankment before 7 a.m. EST. He says the bus came to rest on its side in a small creek.
Watts says the driver, 42-year-old Rebecca Amburgey, was taken to a Hazard hospital along with four children, all with minor injuries.
