Despite a rumor among students, WKU says its renovated residence halls will open on schedule.
Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on four of Western's residence halls. The $14.5 million renovation includes the construction of private bathrooms, also new furniture and a new outer appearance.
Even with the opening of renovated dorms, the university is still suffering from an overcrowding problem. The problem stems from increased enrollment and ongoing renovations to other structures.
Several students have been placed on a waiting list, while others will be placed in temporary housing. Classes officially begin Aug. 19.
