A news release from Fayette County Public Schools says school officials got a tip Monday morning, a 17-year-old boy planned to bring a gun to Bryan Station High School.
Fayette County schools spokeswoman, Lisa Deffendall, says the student's family was also notified by an anonymous phone call, and one of his parents met him as he got off the school bus and took him home. Deffendall says the boy didn't make it inside the school.
The boy's parents and school officials called police, who went to the boy's home and arrested him.
Police say he's been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm on school grounds and being a minor in possession of a firearm.
