Phillip Shelton resigned Friday at a meeting to determine his status at Warren Elementary.
Even though Shelton resigned, superintendent Tim Murley went into today's meeting knowing he did not have a position for Shelton next year.
"This has been a very trying situation on everyone," said Murley, "including the school, the staff, and the district, but in the end I think a satisfying result was reached."
Shelton had been suspended two weeks ago, accused of swatting a female student on the butt.
Retired elementary school principal Damon Tabor will finish out the rest of the school year at Warren Elementary, while the search begins for a permanent replacement.
