As area students head back to schools Kentucky State Police are reminding parents of a few tips to keep their kids safe .
Riding the bus to school is safe, but injuries can still happen.
Students should first have a designated "safe place" to wait for their bus away from traffic and the street.
As the bus arrives, kids need to stay away from it until it comes to a complete stop and the driver signals them to enter.
And when they're dropped off, students getting off the bus should take ten giant steps away from the bus.
