ACT Scores Up Slightly From 2006

State education officials say scores on the American College Test or "ACT" improved slightly for high school seniors who start college this fall.

The Kentucky Department of Education and the Council on Postsecondary Education say Kentucky students scored an average of 20.7.

The score is up from the 2006 average of 20.6.

Almost 31,000 high school seniors took the test this year which measures students' college readiness in English, Math, Reading and Science.

Colleges and universities often use ACT scores to make decisions on admission.
