Fred Carter Named To State Education Cabinet

The former superintendent of Glasgow Independent Schools will soon have an impact across the state.

Dr. Fred Carter has been named Deputy Secretary of the Education Cabinet.

Carter has been involved in public education in Kentucky for more than 30 years.

In addition to serving in Glasgow, he served as Principal of Bowling Green High School, Instructional Supervisor of Warren County Schools and Assistant Principal of Warren East High School.

Carter said he's excited and humbled to be given the opportunity to work with Cabinet Secretary Laura Owens, Governor Fletcher and the administration.

He begins his new job September 1.
