What was to be a fun trip for some area elementary students to our nation's capital ends in a wreck just minutes after it began.
KSP Trooper Jonathan Biven told WBKO Wednesday night, a bus full of parents and students from Cub Run Elementary School ran off the side of highway 728 just after 6:00 p.m.
He says the bus wound up on its right side, causing injuries to some of the 34 students, 20 parents, and the driver. Biven says one person was flown by Air Evac to the University of Louisville hospital with a possible broken back, wrist, and collapsed lung.
He says the other injuries were just some sore necks and bumps and bruises.
Trooper Biven says ambulances from Hart, Barren, Hardin, Larue, and Edmonson counties responded, taking the injured to Hardin Memorial, Caverna Memorial, or Twin Lakes hospital as a precaution.
He says this was a non-school sanctioned trip provided by WorldStrides student travel company.
The invesigation into the accident is still ongoing.
