The program matches loving senior citizens with at-risk elementary and daycare children, where the foster grandparent nurtures and encourages the child.
Tuesday the seniors enjoyed a banquet at Living Hope Baptist Church to honor their work.
"Our volunteers put in so many hours, day after day, week after week, month after month," said program director Robert Chinn, "working with children who have special and exceptional needs and it's very important on an on-going basis for us to do some little things and reward and recognize them."
In addition to the banquet, the seniors were presented certificates of appreciation, some of them given out by the judge-executive of their county.
