LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Tyler Wesely's three-point play in the final minutes helped Oldham County to a 55-48 win over Bowling Green in the first round of the boys' state tournament Thursday.
Oldham County (30-5) was clinging to a 45-43 lead when Wesely's play with 1:48 left provided the final push.
The Colonels were 15-of-34 from the field (44.1 percent), including 5-of-15 shooting from 3-point range. They were 20-of-24 from the free-throw line (83.3).
Sam Gruber led Oldham County with 16 points, Jacob Kopp added 13, and Wesely finished with 12.
Bowling Green (29-7) shot 19-of-47 (40.4) from the field but was only 5-of-12 (41.7) from the free-throw line. Scooter Hollis led the Purples with 14 points, Jalen Hunter scored 12, and Nacarius Fant 11.
Oldham County faces Knott County Central in quarterfinal action Friday.
