Be a Leader!

WBKO, an ABC affiliate, has partnered with Flora Templeton Stuart, Attorney at Law to launch a leadership event with Poppy to recognize schools who have empowered students to lead, learn, excel and serve our community. The chosen school and students will be recognized for outstanding achievement. All schools in south central Kentucky from grades K - 12 will have the opportunity to be recognized for empowering their students to lead by reaching their full potential in academics, sports, arts, and community service.

To win Poppy’s Field Trip, superintendents, principals, teachers, and full-time staff can nominate your school or school group throughout the year by filling out the online form below. WBKO will select nominated schools for voting by viewers. The school with the most votes will win Poppy’s Leadership Award and be featured on AM Kentucky.

Winning schools will be entered in a Grand Prize Drawing at the end of the contest period. The selected school will receive a $2,000 check to be used to promote leadership activities and/or ‘Leader in Me’ initiatives and programs.

Bowling Green Junior High School

Our students at bgjhs they do the best they can do to follow of leadership standards. All students are responsible, talented in many ways, and really nice group to teach. Our school also stands out because not many other middle schools teach their students what right from wrong. Our students do no break dress code, language appropriate, and they stay on task no matter what. 6th grade at bgjhs are the best they have the best school sprit and cheer on.

South Warren Middle School

South Warren Middle School is composed of outstanding students and staff. The chemistry of this school is extraordinary. The staff offers support, leadership and direction. They challenge 7th and 8th graders each day, and they must say that their students are up for the challenge. The expectations of SWMS are as follows:
Work Together
Obtain Excellence
Respect Others
Demonstrate Responsibility

Our students do an excellent job of upholding these expectations on a daily basis. For this reason, I would like to nominate South Warren Middle School for Poppy's Field Trip.
