Cohron Named Kentucky's Outstanding Commonwealth Attorney

NEWS RELEASE -- The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit is pleased to announce that Chris Cohron, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit (Warren County), has been awarded the 2010 Carroll M. Redford Award. This award is given annually by the Kentucky Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Association to honor Kentucky’s outstanding Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Mr. Cohron was presented this award by the Kentucky Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Association at their meeting during the Kentucky Prosecutor’s Conference which was held in Lexington from August 25-27th in Lexington. Chris was presented this award by the outgoing President of the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Association, the Hon. Allen Trimble, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 34th Judicial Circuit.

Chris Cohron is the Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 8th Judicial Circuit (Warren County). He was elected to the position in May 2004 after previously serving as First Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney. Mr. Cohron is past President of the Kentucky Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Association and also serves as the legislative director for the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Association. In 2008, Chris was appointed to the Prosecutors Advisory Council as well as the Kentucky Criminal Justice Council.

Chris has previously represented the Commonwealth’s Attorneys Association during the 2006 Blue Ribbon Commission on Sentencing reform. Chris was the keynote speaker to the first convention of the Kentucky Narcotics Officers Association. Chris has represented the Commonwealth’s Attorneys Association on the Kentucky Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Council. Chris was named Kentucky’s Outstanding Commonwealth’s Attorney for 2007 by the Attorney General’s Office. Chris was also named Kentucky’s Outstanding Prosecutor in 2008 by the Kentucky Elder Abuse Council.
