Kentucky's Special Olympic athletes returned home on Oct. 13, but not without a big greeting first.
The fifteen athletes and eight coaches returned to Louisville from the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai, China.
Kentucky athletes earned 14 medals at the games, including six gold, six silver and two bronze medals, as well as four fourth-place ribbons, four fifth-place ribbons and one sixth-place ribbon.
The athletes were wearing their medals when they returned.
There were several athletes on the team from Bowling Green, Franklin, Russellville and Elizabethtown, among others.
