Recent rainfall in the area prompts water utilities to rescind the water shortage alert.
Bowling Green Municipal Utilities and the Warren County Water District say the water shortage alert put into effect in August is canceled effective immediately.
The companies say the recent rainfall along with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers release of water at Barren River Lake have significantly improved river flows and water quality.
A water shortage "advisory" is still in effect.
This means customers should voluntarily conserve water.
The water companies say even with the recent rainfall, we are still twelve inches below the average for this time of year.
