A new batch of officers will soon be patrolling the streets of Bowling Green.
A swearing-in ceremony was held on Nov. 5 at Bowling Green City Hall.
Mayor Pro-Tem Bruce Wilkerson administered the oath to eight new officers.
The officers graduated from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Nov. 2.
One of the new officers has a strong tie to the force.
"I had an uncle retire, Danny Vickous at the end of July. I got his number--it was something we requested and they happened to give it to me," said Ofc. Jonathan Vickous, with the Bowling Green police.
With the additional officers, Bowling Green has a total of 101 officers.
They have a capacity for 109.
More officers are expected to be hired at the Nov. 6 City Commission meeting.
