Monday was Butler County's official 200th birthday.
Several guests, politicians, and dignitaries attended the ceremony.
Judge-Executive David Fields says the Kentucky state legislature proclaimed Butler to be its own county on January 18, 1810.
The community's year-long celebration will include the creation of a history book, that every family has the opportunity to be a part of.
"A lot of people are looking back at their history," says Fields, "finding out a lot of things they didn't know. It's as much for the future, but we are concentrating on the past."
The celebration includes everything from an official proclamation to a four-act drama about Butler County's history.
