It's called "Toppers on Tour". This summer WKU coaches are hitting the road to build support for all the Hilltopper teams. It will be a chance for the public to meet some new faces including athletic director Ross Bjork who's only been on the job for six weeks.

"My seminal moment for me was when Dr. Ransdell shook my hand and said this is what you wanted, congratulations, then left me alone," said Bjork. "I just took a deep breath and said okay, no turning back now."

Bjork is still settling into his new role as WKU Athletic Director. He says spring is the best time to start a job like this.

"You get a chance to see spring wrap up and summer planning sessions, but I think August is gonna be here before we know it," Bjork said.

Before August and the start of football season rolls around, Bjork, along with several WKU head coaches, are teaming up with the alumni association to promote the Hilltoppers in six different cities.

"The alumni association is happy to be part of that," said Donald Smith. "Our mission is to get alumni involved in the life of the institution, and this is one way we have to do that and get those coaches in those communities."

"Toppers on Tour" will make stops near Louisville, Lexington, Elizabethtown, and Nashville, as well as Glasgow and Owensboro.

"We'll have receptions that evening, Smith said, "where fans, kids can get autographs from players and coaches, all alumni who want to meet those coaches will have opportunity to do so."

There will also be a chance to buy season tickets, join the Hilltopper Athletic Foundation, or any number of ways to engage in the University.

"We're always asking people to come here and support us," Bjork added. "Now we get a chance to see them on their home turf and ask them to come and support us on a regular basis."

Willie Taggart, Ken McDonald, Mary Taylor Cowles, and Chris Finwood will all be a part of "Toppers on Tour," which kicks off tomorrow night at six o'clock eastern time in Versailles. For a complete list of other stops throughout the month of June, log onto alumni.wku.edu\toppersontour.
