Warren County Sheriff Jerry "Peanuts" Gaines is the winner of the Ferris E. Lucas Award for 2010 National Sheriff of the Year.
"Peanuts" received the honor in California Monday.
The National Sheriffs' Association established the award in 1995.
It recognizes an outstanding sheriff for contributions made to improve the office of sheriff on the local, state, and national levels.
