Rivals Ford and Toyota announced an agreement Monday to work together to develop a new hybrid truck.
The new partnership is expected to produce hybrid rear-wheel drive pickups and SUV's sometime later this decade.
Toyota says it hopes to use Ford's presence in the truck and SUV market to expand its hybrid technology.
The agreement has the automakers still competing for sales, but sharing research and development costs.
