The town of Greensburg was bursting with red white and blue today.

People lined the corners of the square to proudly wave their flags and to welcome home one of their own, Medal of Honor recipient..Dakota Myers.

But the former Marine Meyer says he is more than happy to be finally be home.

"But there's nothing like coming home to your hometown and having them cheer for you. Its been the most rewarding thing i've done since i've been here," said Dakota Meyer.

The Governor, Mayor of Greensburg and others lined the stage to present Meyer with special awards and heart felt words.

While the crowds, many of them veterens themselves or in the service, cheered and hollared for the 23-year-old national hero.

Although Meyer just had an opportunity of a lifetime in meeting the president in Washington, he said he asked him a simple question.

"I just asked him what advice would he give a 23 year old, you know someone my age, in my shoes, you know, what exactly, what should i do with my life?"

But as the Medal of Honor recipient shares , while he could never forget his past , there is always room to move forward.

"You know that day, it was a bad day, and I lost a lot of good guys that day, and their my brothers and I think about it every single day, but you can only look at something like that before you can turn something negative into something positive. And I think that this is what it's about, I wouldn't be doing this without them, they're watching over me every single day.'
