There's a law in Kentucky that allows unprepared mothers to leave their newborn child safely in the hands of someone else.
A person can leave a child at a fire station, police station or hospital without anyone knowing who they are.
For those who want to drop off their infants EMS trained workers are prepared to take care of the babies.
For Denise Lambrianou seeing children left behind is nothing new.
"If there is a young woman in that kind of decision, you can contact us at the office and I will walk you through it," said Lambrianou as she flips through pictures of her children on her cell phone.
Lambrianou isn't only a mother, she works for the adoption resource program which places babies under 3 days old in good homes through the Kentucky Safe Infant Law.
"we get people interested in fostering and than adopting for babies just like this, and hopefully we can prevent this tragedy from happening again."
Afterall she adopted all four of her children.
"We just kinda fell in love with them and just kept them," she says.
Tragedies like Lindsey Lowe's story is what keeps Lambianou educating the public.
"It's very sad I know five families just off the top of my head who would have loved to have adopted them and loved them just as if they were their own."
Lambianou says they make sure newborns will find a good, loving home.
