The Kentucky athletes of the Special Olympics returned to Lexington Wednesday, from the World Summer Games in Athens, Greece.
The group was greeted by friends and family at the Blue Grass Airport, where they showed off their medals, and told stories of their experiences.
"I felt a little bit awesome," said Collin Lutz, an Aquatics Olympian from Nicholasville. "The winning wasn't important. Like my grandpa said, 'You always have fun in Greece.'"
"It was a great experience being in that stadium," added Ryan Barts, a
Track & Field Olympian from, Georgetown. "One of the biggest stadiums in the world."
In all, Kentucky's Special Olympics athletes, including Russellville's Lee Dockins, son 14 medals, including seven gold.
