Back in November we started a communication bridge with a 12-year-old boy in Indiana named Tyler Zogleman, in which my students would communicate with him by letter and by facebook.

The students of mine knew I was doing a benefit for Tyler in November, and they decided to begin a project that they would do themselves without me knowing.

This group of students made a pact and a promise each day from November to now, to save quarters each day from their lunch at school and to put it in a fund. Today these students approached me with a bag that had $125 in it that they themselves have been collecting since November in honor of Tyler, and to donate to him and his fight against cancer.

To me, this is a story that must be heard somehow, even if it is just to you. These students should be recognized and shown to the whole county that "HEY LOOK! These are great examples of our youth and what they are capable of!"

This group of kids shows the leadership and caring ability of our students and their ability to begin a project months ago, with the benchmark to help another student a whole state away from them that they have yet to meet.

I am grateful for my students and for the impact that they have had on me. I am proud to live in Logan County and I am proud to be a part of Logan County High School, but even more proud to be a part of the lives of ALL my students. Thank you!
