It's hard nowadays for Pearline Kirby to move around with her bad arthritis and because of that she is thankful for Community Action in Bowling Green which makes sure she has everything she needs.
"That means a lot, It means a lot, It means a lot to know that someone cares," she said.
She says when they come to check on her and bring her a meal, if they don't think she is home or don't hear from her, they don't leave until they know she is okay.
"And if they think that I'm not, that something is wrong they will bam bam bam on the door until they find out I am alright," she said.
For Community Action stopping by and doing a welfare check isn't enough.
"Yes it is hot. What are you doing to keep cool? Are you drinking lots of liquids?," Eve LeBlanc asks on the phone.
LeBlanc spends time every day making phone calls to clients because she knows with this heat, it's important to stay safe.
"If you have a problem with your air conditioning and they don't know how to handle it call me and I can connect them with the proper people that can help them the food situation is once again eat lighter drink lots of water lots of liquids and eat lots of fruits," she said.
LeBlanc says she does receive calls from people who want to go out, but say it's just too hot and she has advice for them.
"You can not tell someone they can't go outside but go out early in the morning late n the evening. Get some fresh air, but do it in moderation like anything else and take that water bottle with you," she said.
LeBlanc says the hardest part is sometimes getting people to admit that they need help whether it be with getting food or trying to avoid being out in this weather.
