The numbers are in--national unemployment rates are rising.

And for Metcalfe county the unemployment rate is suffering with more than 14 percent of their community unemployed.

They say it's due to the dismal automative industry, where many people in their community worked.

And now They've been forced to look for other options to bring the jobs home.

Like career coaching in the area high school and offering a free high school diploma program to help those who had to drop out.

"We've had over 70 students graduate who may not otherwise been able to finish highschool," said teacher Matt Shirley.

They're doing this in hopes that students will return home and make the town a better place.

"I understand that it would help more of our students and more people from our community would have a better chance at a better future and a better job in this community," said Shirley.

And with hard work Metcalfe residents have faith things will be looking up soon.

"Our hope in turn then are those students will come back to the community and make homes here and have more jobs here. And if we can educate our workforce than we certainly believe we can provide just as much or more than our neighboring counties," said career coach Eric Sexton.

And faith is something the entire country will need to do to make it out of this economy.
