The Symphony at WKU welcomed pre-college string students for the second annual String Contest on March 31.
Students performed for judges, peers and friends in the new Music Rehearsal Hall on the campus of Western Kentucky University. The Atlantic Ensemble from the Blair School of Music in Nashville adjudicated the event.
Winners of the String Contest are Ben Matthews, Level I; Lydia Speer, Level II; Josiah Newman, Level III; Maggie Holman, Level IV; Chaney Rose, Level V.
Honorable Mention was awarded to Francis Rigsby-Tinch, Emily Mason, Kana Takahori, Level I; James Han, Level II; Yedarm Kim, Level III; Maya Huss and Kenzie Crowe, Level IV; and Alicyn Newman, Level V.
