The Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center (SKyPAC) has added a free concert featuring the 101st Airborne Division Concert Band to its Opening Week schedule of events. The concert will be held in SKyPAC’s Performance Hall on Friday, March 16th at 7:30 p.m.
“SKyPAC is thrilled about the addition of the 101st Airborne Division Band to our opening week events schedule,” said Tom Tomlinson, Executive Director of SKyPAC. “The free concert is just one of the many ways for the public to experience what SKyPAC has to offer during Opening Week while enjoying outstanding, regional entertainment.”
The 101st Airborne Division free concert will take place during SKyPAC’s Opening Week of events that also includes an Opening Night Concert with LeAnn Rimes joined by Orchestra Kentucky, an Orchestra Kentucky “Rated K for Kids” tribute to the music of great children’s films, and a SKyPAC Free Community Day with arts and entertainment for the whole family. The Inaugural Series kicks off with a performance of Damn Yankees on March 19th at 7 p.m.
The 101st Airborne Division, based in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, was activated on August 16, 1942. Known as the “Screaming Eagles,” the unit is a U.S. modular light infantry division trained for air assault operations. The division served in World War II, the Vietnam War, and more recently, Iraq and Afghanistan. The band is comprised of seven active-duty soldiers and musicians who are stationed at Ft. Campbell.
Tickets to the 101st Airborne Division Concert Band Performance are available for free on a first come, first serve basis starting February 28th at the SKyPAC ticket office located at 601 College Street.
