After more than a decade of sometimes halting progress, the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center opens in two days.
It's hard to believe, even for Rick McCue, the president and chairman of the SKyPAC board!
"I just really can't believe that we're here," said McCue. "It's been a long time coming. And I guess the biggest challenge for us has been just to stay on course, just to keep it going."
But it kept going, from the groundbreaking, to construction, to Saturday's opening night! Even though, at times, the challenge seemed almost insurmountable.
"There was a lull there of the economy went bad," McCue said. "And then there was some indecision as to where it was gonna be located, how we were gonna finance it. But all those things came together and here we are about to open the facility and it is just great."
Tomorrow night we'll hear from state representative Jody Richards of Bowling Green, the man who was essential in obtaining the financing to build SKyPAC.
