Orchestra Kentucky performed in SKyPAC for the very first time, and for the very first time, an audience was present for something called Tuning the Hall.
The high-tech way they tested the acoustics at SKyPAC, was to pop a big balloon, then measure how long it takes the sound to decay.
Then, as Jeff Reed conducted the orchestra, Russ Cooper adjusted curtains and ceiling panels to improve the sound in the hall.
When he was finished, Cooper said SKyPAC sounded great! He said Bowling Green got an incredible value for the price it paid for SKyPAC, and in the rich sound that now pervades the performing arts center.
Russ Cooper has tuned such renowned theaters as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.
