Irene Skaggs, 87, of Brownsville, died at 12:15 a.m. Sept. 17, 2012, at Edmonson Care and Rehab Center.
The Edmonson County native was a homemaker and a member of Asphalt Church of Christ. She was a daughter of the late Riley Kinser and Maggie Ashley Kinser and the wife of the late Kenneth M. Skaggs. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Skaggs.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gravil Funeral Home, with burial in Holly Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Surviving are a son, Johnny Skaggs (Cora) of Brownsville; two daughters, Peggy Vibbert (Quenton) of Smiths Grove and Dorothy Lindsey (Clayton) of Bowling Green; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Skaggs of Brownsville; three brothers, Jack Kinser of Duluth, Ga., Lavon Kinser of Middletown, Ohio, and Ronnie Kinser of Normal, Ill.; two sisters, Gloria Miller of Louisville and Betty Deckard of Bloomington, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, Charles Lyndell Johnson, Julie Moore, Steve Johnson, Mechille Gravil, Brian Johnson, Allen Skaggs, Anna Fleming, Johnny Wayne Skaggs, Dawn Decker, Dana Cowles, Michael Shane Skaggs and Natalie Stice; six stepgrandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
