George Sheridan Ragland, 81, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Ragland was born June 5, 1931, a son of the late Everett and Estelene Baker Ragland, and was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Buss Ragland; and a brother, Drexil Ragland.
Mr. Ragland was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a mail sorter and was a graduate of Warren County High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the Goshen Masonic Lodge and Burton Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennie Carroll of Bowling Green; a brother, Roy Ragland and his wife, Sammy, of Bowling Green; two grandchildren, Kristal Carroll and Elizabeth Hernandez; two great-grandchildren, Nina Hernandez and Cruz Hernandez; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Burton Memorial Baptist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Burton Memorial Baptist Church. Masonic services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
